At the end of 2020 when I was in the hospital with what would turn out to be TME, they did every test imaginable trying to figure out what was wrong with me (I had been admitted in a stroke-like state). As a result of some of those tests, completely unrelated, I was diagnosed with a slightly enlarged liver and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Now fast forward to around fall of this past year, when my gallbladder started really hurting after I had eaten a lot of peanut butter. My awesome doctor told me all about gallbladder disease, and gallstones, and the precursor to gallstones, gall sludge. He explained to me that pretty much the standard western medicine for gallbladder issues is to remove the gallbladder, which he recommended avoiding if not absolutely necessary (a lot of gallbladder removals are not absolutely necessary). So I went home and started doing a lot of reading and research, I got these two books, I started adding things to my diet based on the books, and did some very specific supplements. Last month I had a full abdominal ultrasound, and not only did my gallbladder look great (absolutely no stones) but the doctor reading the ultrasound shook her head and said “I don’t know what those people were talking about, your liver looks great, no sign of enlargement at all!” So all of the things that I was doing for my gallbladder also healed my liver!
One of the important lessons I learned is that your liver needs to be told *regularly* to prime the bile pump to pump fresh bile to your gallbladder (which leads me to think that perpetual intermittent fasting is *not* good for your liver and gallbladder), and your gallbladder needs to have the bile not be sitting there in the gallbladder without getting flushed out by fresh injections of bile from the liver prompted by you, you know, eating, because that is what forms the sludge which is the precursor to gallstones. Anyway I highly recommend these two books if you are having gallbladder or even liver issues.
