About Forrest

IRC Pioneer & Digital Community Builder

I was deeply involved in IRC communities in the late 1990s and early 2000s, especially on channels like #zuh (on the Zuh network at irc.zuh.net) and #thugempire (on irc.thugempire.com), where I hung out with Bob (the channel owner, who had an annoying bot named thugempire) and Bobby (a regular), as well as networks like Dalnet, EFnet, Undernet, and irc.syshackers.net (run by my friend ^htv^). Managing massive, fast-moving chat rooms led me to code mIRC scripts and build tools to help navigate the chaos and stay connected.

Imagine being in chat rooms with up to 50,000 people talking at once. I started coding scripts to automate, filter, and keep up with the action.

Zuh.net was a hub for coders and digital misfits, famous for open-source scripts and creative bots. Thugempire was a notorious channel for underground personalities and tech enthusiasts, known for edgy humor and wild antics. These communities shaped my understanding of digital culture and online collaboration.

My online journey began in 1995, juggling IRC on both computer and WebTV. These early days taught me the ropes of online communication and the thrill of digital communities long before social media.

Origins: A Username by Chance
My “SexyMacMan” username started as a joke during Apple’s iCloud beta, but became my digital signature. It sparked laughter, curiosity, and memorable introductions, teaching me the value of authenticity and humor online.

There were awkward moments explaining the name, but it became a badge of not taking myself too seriously.

My Narcolepsy Diagnosis
In 2011, after months of exhaustion and sleep attacks, I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. The journey included a sleep study, unanswered questions about the H1N1 vaccine, and a new commitment to self-advocacy and awareness.

Building NarcolepticNerd
The diagnosis inspired me to create sleepynerdlive.com—a hub for stories about sleep, tech, weather, and all things nerdy. The site became a community for honesty, curiosity, and support, connecting people worldwide.

SEO Expertise and TrumpFile.org
I’m also an SEO expert, running projects like trumpfile.org to document public records and support transparency online. My passion is helping important stories reach a wider audience.

Embracing Change and Growth
Transitioning from SexyMacMan to NarcolepticNerd reflects growth, resilience, and the power of embracing change. I’ve learned to accept my quirks and step into new identities as life evolves.

Whether you’re here for tech, sleep stories, or just to say hello, you’re welcome. Let’s learn, share, and build something meaningful together.

Reflections and Looking Ahead
I’m grateful for the twists and turns that brought me here. NarcolepticNerd is a community, a platform, and a testament to resilience. If you’re reading this, thank you for being part of the journey. Reach out anytime—new name, same passion for curiosity and community.
