You know, it occurs to me that one of the reasons that Rand Paul may have such a hard-on for Fauci is that Rand suffers from “I’m a doctor!” syndrome. I’ve seen it with lawyers, and other professionals, too. At some point, early on, Rand decided, in his infinite wisdom, that he, as a doctor, knew the origins of Covid 19. Once people like this take a stand, it is *very* hard for them to admit that perhaps they got things wrong. They will fight to the bitter end to defend their initial position, because it’s not just that position they are defending – in their mind it’s their entire reputation and credentials. If Paul can’t prove that Fauci is “wrong”, and that he, Paul, is “right”, then Paul will look foolish, and he will lose the institutional credibility he has as a doctor. Of course the sad thing is that he’s already lost that credibility, and it was his own doing. UPDATE: OMG I can’t believe all the people saying that an ophthalmologist is not a real doctor!! They go through four years of medical school just like any other doctor and then they do years of specialty ophthalmology residency on top of that!
