Well i lost the war with the virus on my netbook, I still dont know exactly which one hurt me

so check this out I had a battle with a virus on my netbook and I lost, I was able to get Hiren’s bootcd and completely get into the machine and destroy the virus, but I made one vital mistake I didnt know the virus locked taskmgr so I was unable to even try to even get into the computer after cleaning the virus. before I tricked the virus when it forced me to try to register its software, and I would instead of going to the internet, i would type file:c:/ to get into the root of the c drive, and then find the exe files of the programs I needed in order to start browsers and whatnot. I didnt have that option after the virus was cleaned off the netbook. Thats ok i can get everything back to how it was on it.
