VERY IMPORTANT! I HAVE IT ON CREDIBLE INFORMATION THAT SOME ‘RED’ STATES ARE DISALLOWING THE USE OF STUDENT ID AS PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE AT THE POLLS
Because of *course* they want to suppress the young vote! This is already being challenged in court, BUT if *you* have a student who will be 18 in November, and if they don’t have a license, *PLEASE* take them to get a non-license government-issued ID or have them go there themselves NOW. To get a government issued ID you just go to the DMV, it’s just like getting a license only without the pesky driving test requirement.
Generally speaking they will need:
Original or certified copy of their birth certificate or an unexpired U.S. passport; and
Their Social Security card or a W-2 form showing their full SSN; and
Proof of residency such as utility bills, lease agreements, or bank statements in their name showing their current residential address.
