U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein also barred any further removals without due process of alleged Tren de Aragua members held in his district. He’s at least the second judge to rule that the government’s use of the 1798 law to deport immigrants to a notorious megaprison in El Salvador was based on a flawed and illegal interpretation.
