The Trump administration’s goal, along with many of its allies, has been to destroy the resistance. But there’s one thing they’ll never understand is we defend our own.
The attempt to arrest and prosecute Olympic canoeist Davey Hearn should concern everyone. The Department of Justice ultimately dropped the charges, but the case was about making an example of him. If people can be arrested to discourage others from speaking out, that should concern all of us.
When those in power rely on misinformation, intimidation, or efforts to silence critics, people eventually see through it. That’s why Trump continues to fire his own hand-selected appointees. The pursuit of absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The resistance has never been about fear or retaliation. It’s about standing up for one another and refusing to stay silent. We defend democracy, look out for our neighbors, and contribute to legal defense funds to help people facing cases like this. Thank you for being part of this movement.
