   Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 602
   NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   945 PM CDT Wed Aug 19 2026

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Northern Arkansas
     Southern Illinois
     Western Kentucky
     Southern Missouri
     Western Tennessee

   * Effective this Wednesday night and Thursday morning from 945 PM
     until 300 AM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
       inches in diameter possible
     Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
     A tornado or two possible

   SUMMARY...Scattered storms including some supercells will continue
   to develop and spread generally eastward, with a clustering of
   storms possible later this evening into the overnight.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50
   statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles west of West
   Plains MO to 50 miles southeast of Cape Girardeau MO. For a complete

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
   favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
   Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
   weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
   warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
   tornadoes.
