   Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 579

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Western and Central Nebraska

   * Effective this Wednesday night and Thursday morning from 735 PM
     until 300 AM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
     Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
       inches in diameter possible

   SUMMARY...Thunderstorms currently over the Nebraska Panhandle and
   northeast Colorado will congeal and spread eastward across the watch
   area through the early morning hours.  Damaging wind gusts and some
   hail are expected with some of these storms.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70
   statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles west southwest
   of Mullen NE to 45 miles east of Burwell NE. For a complete

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
   favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
   Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
   weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
   warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
   tornadoes.
