The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Western South Dakota
* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 140 PM until
800 PM MDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
to 3 inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
SUMMARY...Isolated supercell thunderstorms are expected to develop
over the Black Hills region and spread slowly eastward through the
early evening. Large hail is the main concern, along with locally
damaging wind gusts.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65
statute miles east and west of a line from 60 miles north northeast
of Rapid City SD to 75 miles south southeast of Rapid City SD. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
