SHAME ON THE AP FOR THIS TOTALLY MISLEADING HEADLINE!!

What’s the world of journalistic integrity coming to when even the Associated Press (I’m looking at you, AP Politics) can’t be trusted to steer their readers true? How ironic – or perhaps prescient – that my penultimate post this very day gave you a warning about how even the media are guilty of intentionally penning misleading headlines – it’s not just social media accounts. But the AP?? Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Remember how Blanche swore up and down with his pinkies that they were *abandoning* the $1.776billion slush fund? Remember how the administration said that legal actions against it were moot because, again, they are abandoning the slush fund?
Yeah.
So what Judge Richard Leon *actually* did was say that *for now* he’ll not issue a *temporary* restraining order and will take Blanche at his word (in other words that there is no reason to issue a TRO because there is no *imminent* danger of the fund moving forward). BUT, and it’s a big but, he’s keeping a close eye on it *and* that he still has to rule on the Plaintiff’s request for a preliminary injunction. Remember a TRO has different standards than a preliminary injunction. *All* Judge Leon did was say no to the TRO, *not* to the injunction.
(The Plaintiffs are Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington – or CREW; remember I told you about them, and this case, last week with the Friendly “It’s a moo point” headline.)
