Our national parks are already severely understaffed. They’ve lost roughly a quarter of their permanent workforce since Trump returned to office, and the people who remain are being asked to do more with less every single day.
Now the administration is pulling hundreds of National Park Service employees from parks across the country and sending them to Washington, D.C., including personnel with emergency response and search-and-rescue expertise, while pouring park resources into Trump’s “beautification” projects and 250th anniversary events.
These are the people who keep visitors safe, respond when someone is injured or missing, maintain trails and facilities, and protect some of the most visited public lands in the country. Pulling already stretched-thin employees away from their parks for Trump’s silly vanity projects in Washington is absolutely ridiculous.
