Mike Lindell is demanding a full hand recount after losing Minnesota’s Republican primary for governor to state House Speaker Lisa Demuth by more than 45,000 votes, or roughly 11 percentage points.
The MyPillow founder and longtime Trump ally says he will personally pay for a hand recount and audit of every paper ballot cast in the August 11 primary, a process Minnesota officials estimate will cost about $825,000.
Minnesota law allows candidates to request a recount outside the margin for a publicly funded one, but they have to pay for it themselves. Lindell, who has spent years pushing false claims about the 2020 election, says he wants to use that provision to examine the entire statewide vote. Apparently losing by 11 points still isn’t enough.
