John R. Bolton, a longtime national security official and former adviser to Trump who later became one of his most vocal opponents, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Maryland. Prosecutors accuse Bolton of improperly handling classified materials, alleging that he retained and transmitted national defense information without authorization.
