If you want to know what it’s *really* like trying to run for office, I *highly* recommend “Dead Man Running” by Rob Curnock. I’ve spoken with Rob, and yes, he’s a staunch conservative and we don’t see eye-to-eye on much, but we are in complete agreement about how the political election machine is worse than broken – and how “we the people” barely stand a chance of getting elected because it is almost entirely about money and name recognition (which requires money).
