I was today years old when I learned that in the middle 1800s there was an organization called the “American Colonization Society” which was a “private charitable organization with strong links to the US government”, and which OWNED Liberia! (In 1847 Liberia declared independence, with their declaration of independence being largely modeled on our own.)  Remember: the more things change the more they remain the same.  In many ways our current government is not all that different from our government in any of the years past, just different toys.
