ABOUT THE TRUMP-IRS ‘SETTLEMENT’ AND $1.7BILLION ‘ANTI-WEAPONIZATION’ FUND (DOCS INCLUDED)

In what may be his biggest grift yet – certainly one of the most ballsy (yes, that’s a legal term) – the President of the United States first sued his own IRS and then, in what was almost certainly the long game all along, *dropped* the lawsuit after getting them to agree to spend $1.7 billion – that’s “billion” with a B, that’s B as in ballsy – to create an “anti-weaponization” fund to compensate, well, let Todd Blanche’s own words, from the announcement of the creation of the fund (included for Notes from the Front members, along with Trump’s lawsuit complaint, his dismissal of the lawsuit, and the document setting up the anti-weaponization fund) explain it:

“The machinery of government should never be weaponized against any American, and it is this Department’s intention to make right the wrongs that were previously done while ensuring this never happens again. As part of this settlement, we are setting up a lawful process for victims of lawfare and weaponization to be heard and seek redress.”

In justifying this, Trump’s DOJ is citing to the case of Keepseagle, a case in which the U.S. Department of Agriculture created a $760million fund to compensate *Native American farmers and ranchers* who had been discriminated against by the USDA!

This is absolutely *not that*!

Here the claim was against the IRS for ‘allowing’ Trump’s tax records to be leaked. I suppose that one can make an argument that the IRS was ‘discriminating’ against Trump, and that if he’d won his case that a settlement would have been compensating him as a ‘victim’ of that discrimination, but it’s quite a stretch. And in any event, comparing his bogus case to one involving actual discrimination against Native Americans is just disgusting.

Also, I do have a particular concern over one particularly Trumpy clause in the document establishing the anti-weaponization fund (included, Notes peeps):

“Once the funds are deposited into the Designated Account, the United States has no liability whatsoever for the protection or safeguarding of those funds, regardless of bank failure, fraudulent transfers, or any other fraud or misuse of the funds.”

Uh…

Does this not read like full license for Blanche to do whatever the hell he wants with it?? What am I missing?

Where’d he get the boilerplate language for this, from Darren Indyke?

Now, here’s the thing:

According to Blanche’s announcement, “The Fund will have the power to issue formal apologies and monetary relief owed to claimants. Submission of a claim is voluntary. There are no partisan requirements to file a claim. Any money left when the Fund ceases operations will revert to the Federal Government.”

“The are no partisan requirements to file a claim.”

Of course, there couldn’t be, but there it is in writing.

NOBODY, but NOBODY, in recent memory has more weaponized the DOJ than has Trump.

So, I propose that all of those law firms, all of those cities and state governments (in the form of their representatives), and all of those individuals, who have not only been targeted by this DOJ but whose names as targets have been uttered by Trump himself, should should all be the first in line to file claims. And then when they are all denied, they should sue the DOJ and the anti-weaponization fund.

It will show me that my efforts aren’t in vain and that people actually *do* read to the end of these things, and it will drive those who just skim crazy wondering just why everyone is talking about something that was ballsy, and what it was! ;~)
