ABOUT GHISLAINE MAXWELL’S USB DRIVE APPEAL – I HAVE BOTH THE LETTER AND THE ORDER
You may have heard that Ghislaine Maxwell amended her habeas petition by submitting a thumb drive to the government (remember the government is the plaintiff in this case, and she is the defendant). So she was basically amending her appeal with new evidence, which evidence was released to the public by the DOJ under the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA).
Now, this is the *same* appeal (via a petition for habeas corpus – or just “habeas”) that we’ve discussed many times. It’s not a new one. She is just amending it with new information. On a thumb drive.
And so when the government received the thumb drive they wrote a letter about it (included for Notes from the Front members) to the judge who is overseeing the case, Judge Engelmayer. And now Judge Engelmayer has issued an order (also included for Notes from the Front members) addressing the newly added exhibits on the thumb drive.
In the letter the government says, among other things, “Yesterday, the Government received a FedEx envelope – marked with a “ship date” of April 16, 2026 – that contained a USB drive with the defendant’s amended motion and exhibits. Upon an initial review, the amended motion seems to have some overlap with the defendant’s claims in her original motion. Although the claims raised appear to be equally meritless, the arguments pressed by the defendant appear to be fact and document intensive and thus the Government is not in a position to assess how much of the new material is truly duplicative. In addition to multiple citations to the trial transcript and trial exhibits, the amended motion cites approximately 50 exhibits (beyond those referenced in her original motion).”
Now, the bottom line ask in this letter is, in plain English, “Maxwell sent this to us weeks past the deadline for filing anything, may we please respond to her USB submission?”
Here USB seems to stand not only for Universal Serial Bus but also Usual Bull****.
Judge Engelmayer does grant them the extension of time, ordering a new deadline both for the government to respond, and for Maxwell to respond to the government’s response. But he also says, and I quote:
“The Court will accept Maxwell’s amended petition, notwithstanding its belatedness. The Court does so for a pragmatic reason: to assure that, in the event Maxwell’s petition is denied, she cannot be heard to claim that any argument she attempted to make went unaddressed.”
Smart man! Good judge!
Now, here is something that everyone should be thinking about:
As I said, the government is the plaintiff in this case. The DOJ is basically the government’s attorney in this case. Maxwell is the defendant. In *theory* they are on opposite sides, and the government should be fighting hard to defeat her appeal and keep her in prison.
But this is also the *very same* government who has Epstein class members *in its cabinet*. The very same government whose president and first lady seem to be up to their necks in it. The very same government that Maxwell told *the acting Attorney General* – the acting head of the DOJ – who is supposed to be prosecuting this case *against* Maxwell – that there were members of the Epstein class in the cabinet! And we *know* who some of them are! Lutnick. Oz. And others.
(“Epstein class” is shorthand for the members of the extensive, tangled network of uber-wealthy individuals who along with Epstein were actually running countries and manipulating economies. And guess what: they still are.)
Do you have faith that this government – the same government who wants Tina Peters released – will fight this case to the fullest extent of the law, and with all its might and power?
Yeah, me either.
