A National Park Service engineer warned the Trump administration in early June that the floor of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was already peeling because of the renovation process and the materials being used. The warning came before the pool reopened. But when the damage became visible, Trump accused multiple people of “destroying” the pool, despite his own administration having been warned about the problem weeks earlier.
