A federal judge is pushing back hard after the Trump administration tried to set her up. Judge Melissa DuBose ordered the release of Bryan Rafael Gomez on April 28 after he filed a petition challenging the legality of his detention. What she didn’t know because the DHS deliberately withheld it was that Gomez was wanted for murder in the Dominican Republic.

Two days after her ruling, DHS posted a public press release attacking her for releasing “a violent criminal illegal alien.” They created the situation. Then they blamed her for it.

Judge DuBose called it exactly what it was. She said the government’s decision to hide that information amounted to “a serious breakdown in the ethical codes” and told the court directly “There was a decision made not to be truthful to the court.” She’s now considering sanctions against DHS for misconduct.

This is a pattern. The administration withholds information from judges, waits for an outcome they can spin, then attacks the judge publicly to discredit the courts. It’s not just bad faith litigation it’s an attempt to delegitimize an independent judiciary in the eyes of the public.
