I tell it like it is – some people love that, and some people hate that, and that’s ok. When I was in private practice (my fathers’ rights law practice) my clients loved it, or at least really appreciated it. Like the time that I told a client “I can’t stop the screwing you’re going to get in court, but I can at least provide some lubricant.”

The Navy version of that is, “I can’t stop the screwing you’re about to get, but I at least arranged a reach-around.”

I’m Autistic and have worked for the county I live in for 13 years. I’m also a union steward. At a previous department the HR head there told me she had to come to my defense a few times because some people (possibly some in management) didn’t like my direct, to-the-point manner of speaking. My tendency to tell people things they don’t want to hear but need to be said was also an issue with them. She told them she saw no problem with that and the department needs more people like me.

Our eminent domain attorney was like that. It actually helps you prepare.
