I GIVE YOU MY WORD THAT I WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT PULL ANY APRIL FOOLS STUNTS WHEN IT COMES TO LEGAL REPORTING!
I just came across someone from the legal world who posted an April Fools post about something really good that happened in the courts today that was plausible enough for me to go research it. If *I* had to go research it to see if it was true, you can be sure that their masses of followers who do not have a legal background and who did not bother to read the follow-up comment saying that it was an April Fools joke, were jumping for joy at this, let’s face it, fake news. THAT IS FLOCKING RUDE! Actually it’s worse than rude. People with large followings in the legal world have a responsibility, an ethical duty, to not mislead their audience, yes, even when it is April 1. I absolutely promise I will not do that to you, if you see me posting about something legal today (and you will, there’s a lot going on) you can be sure it is real and true and not an April Fools joke. And if you follow other people in the legal world and they do post April Fools jokes and you get taken in, THEY are the fool, not you.
