For 13 weeks, Marine recruits aren’t allowed to see their families. Not once. Graduation day is the first reunion. It’s supposed to be a celebration. At Parris Island in South Carolina this week, ICE agents will be stationed at the gate checking the immigration status of anyone who shows up to watch. The Marine Corps confirmed it. DHS says no arrests will be made. But families without proper documents will have to answer to federal immigration agents just to see their child graduate. These families gave this country a Marine. This country sent ICE to greet them and demand their papers.
